Group 4 Technology (G4Tec) Implements G2 Integrated Systems Cashless Payment System
Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, July 9,
2007 – The UK’s leading
supplier of cashless catering solutions, G2 Integrated Solutions (G2IS), has installed
their cashless payment system, MYRIAD, in its parent company Group 4 Technology
(G4Tec) corporate headquarters’ DeliTec. The DeliTec serves approximately 180 employees
on a daily basis.
G4Tec employees use a smart card to purchase lunch and vending machine items. Employees
touch the screen to order food, and swipe their card on the attached card reader.
The amount is automatically debited from the card.
“Myriad eliminates cash usage, increases security and the flow of customers through
the DeliTec till,” said Vice President of Marketing, Kim Loy.
The Myriad system allows employees to load money onto their cards themselves via
a Coin and Note Loader or Kiosk. G4Tec’s coin loader is located in the DeliTec where
employees insert their card followed by cash to load money onto their smartcard.
Employees can also use a kiosk which connects to the web to load money onto their
smartcard, which provides 24 hour access. Soon employees will be able to use their
PC to load money onto their cards.
Implementing Myriad offers the following benefits to G4Tec:
- Myriad’s cashless payment system reduces queue time by one-third.
- Convenience - employees only have to carry one card versus cash.
- Saves employees money when they take advantage of Salary Sacrifice.
- Users can load money onto their smartcard from any computer kiosk placing the responsibility
of managing the card to the user.
- It provides a cleaner transaction by eliminating cash handling.
If using a kiosk or PC, users connect to Smartpay to link through to an approved
credit card processor. The bank processes and sends a message back to the user.
Payment is sent to the database. Users automatically collect payment the next time
they use a kiosk, till or vending machine.
Myriad supports an interface that facilitates the use of Salary Sacrifice within
the cashless payment system. An employee can choose to give up the right to receive
part of his/her salary under his contract of employment. The part of the cash pay
is put on the card and used for cashless payment purchases in the form of food only.
The employee purchases food as part of salary sacrificed gross rather than with
cash that has been taxed. The employer benefits by paying a reduced National Insurance
contribution on the employees reduced salary.
