Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, October 2006 – Group 4 Technology announced that it will rename its G4Tec line of security management systems to Symmetry™ Security Management Systems. Symmetry signifies the company’s evolution to a market-driving security solution provider. Symmetry encompasses G4Tec’s approach to offer not only best-in-breed solutions, but to provide a complete portfolio of security solutions beyond the typical integration to its customers.

G4Tec has been driving a fundamental shift in its approach to the market that began with the development of Symmetry™ Video Management and Symmetry™ ENVS® (Edge Network Video Server). Symmetry Video uses “smart” software to stop crime in real-time by recognising configured behaviours. The company has recently entered the video market with its Symmetry Video product line, and is now focusing on offering a complete Symmetry Security Management Solution.

The name Symmetry represents exactly what G4Tec has been providing its customers for years: a totally integrated security management system that includes Identity Management, Access Control, Intrusion Management and Video Management, all of which have equal value and are in balance with one another to protect people, property and assets.

• Symmetry Professional software fits applications that require a more sophisticated set of features but at a cost-effective price point. Professional can meet all the system requirements for the majority of mid-sized, multi-location facilities.
• Symmetry Enterprise software is the solution for systems operating across a LAN / WAN with multiple operators administering the system. It supports an unlimited number of readers and clients making it ideal for larger, multi-site applications that require centralised monitoring and database administration.
• Symmetry Global is the product to use when large organisations have buildings spread over a wide geographic area and provides the functionality to unite them. Combined with Symmetry Professional or Symmetry Enterprise software at the individual locations, Symmetry Global provides the means to manage databases and monitoring in either a centralised or de-centralised manner or a combination of both.
• Symmetry multiNODE controllers utilise a distributed database detailing valid cardholders and access rights.
• Symmetry Video is a digital video solution supporting IP cameras, multiple technologies, and 36 camera views per PC. Its smart software detects behaviour differences, which significantly reduces false alarms. The Symmetry ENVS stores 80 GB and forwards video activity on demand.

The renaming to Symmetry is part of a global marketing strategy to bring together all of the G4Tec products under a single brand.
