Previously, access control and intrusion-detection systems did not interface easily.
Each system required its own set of door contacts and cabling, thus boosting system
costs. As the systems did not share data, associating intrusion alarms with access
control events was a difficult, manual task for data retrieval purposes.
The G4Tec/DMP technology alliance compresses the overlapping systems into a single layer by establishing a communications link between the Symmetry Enterprise
application and DMP“s XR200 and XR500 intrusion panels. Both systems share the same set of
door contacts and the XR200 and XR 500 panels are directly cabled or IP-addressable to the Symmetry Enterprise system as well as a central monitoring facility. Under this arrangement,
intrusion events can be linked to other integrated security management
events like video surveillance.
While the G4Tec/DMP integration delivers substantial cost efficiencies, the ability
