Symmetry™ XML Open Integration Module
Web Service Interface Using XML Technology

XML Open Integration Module imageThe Symmetry XML Developer’s Kit is an optional management module that can be purchased to enable the development of programs that can control and exchange information with the Symmetry Security Management System (Symmetry SMS).

The Symmetry Developer’s Kit employs industry-standard XML and Web Service technologies. These achieve easy communication between diverse systems, irrespective of the programming languages or platforms used, and are recognized as being fundamental in the move towards distributed computing.

The Developer’s Kit can be used to create interfaces between the Symmetry SMS and applications such as Building Management, Intrusion, Payroll, Personnel or Enterprise Requirements Planning (ERP) systems.

A range of methods (API commands) are provided, which allow many routine Symmetry SMS operations to be carried out from an external program, such as importing or exporting card holder details, opening doors, switching on CCTV cameras, raising barriers and acknowledging alarms.

Two-way communications are possible. This enables, for example, Symmetry SMS readers or monitor points to provide control of intrusion, HVAC or other systems, and alarms from external party systems to be sent to the Symmetry SMS.

XML technologies are often used to develop common user interfaces for different systems. This can bring many benefits, including improved accuracy of data, increased efficiency and reduced training costs.

Key Features

  • Gives two-way control and exchange of data between the Symmetry SMS and other systems
  • Simplifies and standardizes the task of linking diverse systems
  • Uses Microsoft® IIS, available free of charge with Windows®
  • Saves time by allowing personnel or other data to be shared between different systems
  • Enables development of common user interfaces that increase efficiency and reduce training costs
  • Allows hardware such as sensors to be shared, which reduces equipment costs
  • Provides security against unauthorized access
