HI SEC’s Redesigned Reader Looks SMART

HI SEC is excited to unveil its new reader design at IFSEC.
HI SEC’s new SMART Reader design offers customers a sleeker, more updated reader option to complement building interiors and exteriors, yet still has the same technological benefits customers have come to expect. It boasts a smaller, aesthetically pleasing design and ergonomic keypad layout. It offers the newest reader technologies, including Mifare sector and chip ID, combined with a facility to control two doors independently from the same terminal. This makes the solution very const competitive. Further, it is expanded to include 50 week programs and eight time zones per day.

HI SEC’s SMART Reader is an intelligent Access Control Reader Terminal that can manage from 16,000 to up to 65,000 card holders in up to 250 personnel groups. A 16-pin keypad and 32-character display with backlight provides users many flexible options. Users may program data at the reader.

“The SMART Reader design is another example of how HI SEC remains at the forefront of the industry,” said HI SEC Managing Director, Martin Hildebrandt. “Our cutting-edge design provides an attractive option and all the benefits of our previous reader rolled into one.”

The SMART Reader is available in many versions:

  1. Build the reader into the terminal so it will operate with Proximity and Mifare cards and tags.
  2. Equip the reader with an interface to be used as an external reader to support Magstripe, Wiegand, Barcode and Proximity.

In a networked security management system, up to 30 reader terminals can operate on an RS-485 data-bus. If more readers are needed, add up to 30 additional sub-busses to operate a maximum of 900 readers on a system.

The SMART Reader acts as a card reader for HI SEC’s Access Control System and as a Remote Keypad for the Intruder Alarm System simultaneously.
